Jonah's 8th Birthday
There were eight bags of Panchitos, Jonah's favorite Ecuadorian junk food.
There were homemade cinnamon rolls (special request by Jonah, my first time making with yeast. Thanks, Erica, for the recipe!)
There was a zucchini chocolate cake with maracuyá curd filling (thanks, Gwen for the recipe and the confidence to make curd for the first time).
There was a Popsicle stick art project: birdhouses for our bird obsession. (Thanks, Stacia, for taking care of details around the table!)
There was a scavenger hunt. (Extra special thanks to Dillon for helping me write all the clues, plants the clues, and check and recheck our work to make sure it would come out right in the end).
There was a golden treasure at the end of 2 very vigorous hours of exercise, with the three teams running and up and down town countless time. (Paul get the credit on the hidden keys and treasure).
There was rice, sausages, and platano maduro. (Thanks to Lucia, Inez, and Jesica for being the grill-masters).
There was community, plenty of community. Friends from Santa Rosa (deep gratitude for the Okura Bailey's second trip to Ecuador, especially for Jonah's b-day) and so many friends from Ecuador.
Jonah was soooo very happy.
